According to LDS doctrine as seen in Ether chapter 3 of the Book of Mormon, the first person to see the premortal Christ in his spirit body was the brother of Jared, Mahonri Moriancumr, who was so full of faith that the LORD Jesus could not withhold himself from him. This contradicts LDS scripture which states that the LORD appeared to Adam and his descendants,76 and talked “face to face” with Enoch.

The biblical Christ has characteristics and an eternal history very dissimilar to the Mormon messiah. Deuteronomy 6:4, the famous rallying cry of the Hebrew people, shows that even then God’s people understood that the names Elohim and Jehovah referred to the same entity: Sh’mah Yisroel Adonai Elcheinu Adonai Echod translates as “The Lord (Jehovah) our God (Elohim) is one Lord (Jehovah).”

In their preoccupation with the physical bodies that they claim that God and Christ possess, Mormons deny their adherents of one of the most precious gifts of God — the indwelling of Jesus himself within a believer. Ephesians 3:17, for instance, promises that Christ dwells in our hearts by faith. But Doctrine and Covenants 130:3 says,
